Sheriff: Work release escapee possibly heading to South Bend area

SOUTH BEND, Ind.—The Clinton County Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday that it was searching for a work release escapee who could possibly be headed to the South Bend area.

Aaron Elvis Barnack, 40, failed to return to his detention facility on Saturday, police said.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, Barnack is 6 feet tall, weighs 172 pounds and is a white male with black hair, brown eyes and multiple tattoos.

Barnack has a history of committing domestic battery in St. Joseph County, according to court records.

Police believe he has reason to travel to the South Bend area, according to the Clinton County Daily News.
