Sheriff's office seeking volunteers for mounted division

The Van Buren County Sheriff's Office Mounted Division is seeking adult volunteers who want to serve their community and further their horse knowledge and training.

Volunteers should have good horsemanship skills, and good communication skills.

There are three divisions of membership:

• Full membership: Must be 21, same training as the Reserve Division.
• Ceremonial membership: Must be 21, not as many hour requirements or as much training required. Parades and search and rescue are the main functions.
• Youth Membership: For ages 14-20.

Volunteers must pass background checks and go through an interview process.
