Several municipal agencies and the Indiana State Police quickly became involved.
After arriving on the scene it was discovered that Delaney Crosby, a 23-year-old African American male, had been shot at least once and was deceased on arrival.
The scene was secured quickly before a search and rescue team cleared out the mall and all stores in search of both victims or suspects, though none were found.
The mall was closed and remains closed for the rest of Saturday.
According to officials, this is an isolated event that was the result of two men arguing with each other. The suspect drew a handgun and shot the victim.
The scene is no longer an active shooting as of 3:45 p.m. and the entire mall has been secured and locked down in order to gather evidence.
St. Joseph County Metro Homicide has taken over the investigation and is interviewing several witnesses who may have seen the shooting.
Crime scene technicians are reviewing security camera footage and working to gain physical evidence.
No suspects are in custody at this time.
Police are asking that anyone with information regarding the shooting call Metro Homicide at 235-5009 or Crime Stoppers at 288-STOP.
