BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. – A shooting in the 2000 block of S. M-139 Wednesday evening has left one person injured.

Officers were called to the scene at 5:47 p.m. Wednesday with reports of a shooting, according to the Benton Charter Township Police Department.

Upon arriving, officers located one victim with multiple injuries.

Officers were advised that the suspect was running north behind other businesses and after a short foot pursuit and brief struggle, he was captured, according to police.

The victim was transported to a nearby hospital to receive treatment and his condition is unknown at this time.  

The suspect was transported to the Berrien County Jail for a preliminary charge of assault with intent to murder, along with other charges.
