UPDATE: Suspect arrested, charged with Attempted Murder in Portage Avenue shooting

UPDATE: Court documents from St. Joseph County reveal 21-year-old Keithus Giden has been arrested and charged in connection with the shooting of a 27-year-old man on Aug. 10 outside of My Place Bar & Grill on Portage Avenue in South Bend.
Documents reveal the shooting occurred after an argument occurred near the bar's entrance.
Giden is charged with Attempted Murder, a Level 1 Felony, and Aggravated Battery, a Level 3 Felony.
No court date has been announced.
The victim was shot in the neck, leaving the projectile lodged in his vertebrae.
The shooting has left the victim dependent on machines to breathe and maintain vital functions, with irreversible loss of brain functions resulting in cerebral death.
Surveillance footage from the bar helped investigators identify Giden along with witness testimony.

The South Bend Police Department is investigating the shooting that occurred around 3 a.m. on Aug. 10.
Officers located a male victim on scene suffering from a gunshot wound.
That victim was transported to a nearby hospital.
