UPDATE: One dead after Tuesday night shooting on West Sample Street, SBPD investigating

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- UPDATE: The South Bend Police Department reports it's now investigating the shooting on West Sample Street as a homicide after the victim died from his injuries.

South Bend police were dispatched to the 3600 block of West Sample Street after a ShotSpotter notification Tuesday, around 10:40 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers found a man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

The victim, identified as 20-year-old Isaiah Walton-Davis, later died from his injuries.

Walton-Davis’ autopsy is scheduled for Thursday in Kalamazoo, Mich.

Police confirm one person was shot.

There's no information on the victim's condition.

The South Bend Police Violent Crimes Unit is investigating.
