Sign of the times: South Bend finds its way to becoming 'bicycle friendly'

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- South Bend wants you to put your pedals to the pavement.

On Tuesday, the city unveiled new "bicycle way finding signs" in downtown.

They give directions to local hot spots like Coveleski Stadium and the Farmer's Market.

Supporters said this puts South Bend one step closer to becoming a bicycle-friendly city!

"Work together to share the road with motorists and with bicyclist and if we begin to that and and learn the rules of the road we're going to have a much safer community and we're going to enjoy cycling so much more," said Judy Lee, Bike Michiana Coalition President.

Mayor Pete Buttigieg also declared May as "South Bend Bike Month".

The 3rd Annual 'Bike the Bend' event is on May 20th.
