UPDATE: As of 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7, the Silver Alert for Vicki Lynn Kirkwood has been cancelled.

According to reporters with Fox32 Chicago, Kirkwood was found dead in a pond in Crown Point after she went missing from the Lake County Fair on Tuesday. 

An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death. 

ORIGINAL: LAKE COUNTY, Ind. -- The Lake County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the disappearance of 55-year-old Vicki Lynn Kirkwood who is missing out of Merrillville. 

Kirkwood is described as a 5'5" tall black woman with black hair and brown eyes. Police say she weighs roughly 140 pounds and was last seen around 2 p.m. on Aug. 6 in Merrillville wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black pants with multicolored stripes.

She is believed to be in extreme danger and may require medical assistance.

Merrillville is roughly 70 miles southwest of South Bend.
