Similar phone recording case in Illinois raises questions in South Bend

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- A potential twist in the South Bend police phone scandal.

Recordings at the department led to the demotion of Chief Darryl Boykins and the firing of Communications Director Karen DePaepe.

Now ABC57 has learned by all appearances that the recordings were perfectly legal.

This is not the first time a police department has come under fire for recording personal phone calls.
