Sirens sound off in Bridgman

If you hear sirens near The Cook Nuclear Power Plant, in Bridgman, don’t worry it’s just a test.

For the next two weeks, Indiana Michigan Power will be testing the 70 sirens around the plant.

The sirens are used during emergencies, like severe weather or chemical spills.

Each siren will sound three to four times for about 30 seconds, during the test.

In the event of an actual emergency, the sirens would continue to go off for three minutes.
