Skechers owes consumers $40 million for making unfounded claims

The shoe company Skechers has to shell out millions of dollars for making unfounded claims.

The Federal Trade Commission laid out the details from a settlement. Skechers advertised that it’s toning shoes would help people lose weight, build muscle and get in shape.

But that wasn't true, so it's costing the company $40 million.

Several famous faces, including reality TV star Kim Kardashian, were spokes models for the Shape-Up shoes.

Consumers who bought the shoes can now get refunds.
