Skeletal remains found along creek bed in North Liberty identified

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. – The skeletal remains found along a creek bed in North Liberty last November have been identified, the St. Joseph County Metro Homicide Unit reported.

Today, Metro Homicide Unit investigators identified the skeletal remains to be 43-year-old Rachel Zentz, formerly of LaPaz.

The cause and manner of death has been ruled as undetermined.

At 11:54 a.m. on Saturday, November 28, 2020, a citizen discovered skeletal remains along a creek bed in the 24000 block of Stanton Road. 

The Metro Homicide Unit, along with a representative of the St. Joseph County Coroner’s Office, met with family members to inform them of the identify of the remains.

Staff at Western Michigan University’s School of Medicine assisted in this identification.
