Small business Saturday

In 2010, American Express started Small Business Saturday to encourage shoppers to shop local mom and pop stores that have a difficult time competing with big box stores that have huge Black Friday sales.
A lot of South Bend's small shops offer products that are unique to the area and would not be found in large department stores.
Business owners say they were very busy and look forward to this event every year.
