Merry Christmas, Michiana!

A white Christmas was much more than just a dream for much of Michiana, as heavy lake-effect snow blasted the area this morning and early afternoon. Some locations, especially in Berrien and St. Joseph (IN) counties, saw more than a foot of snow! Any snow showers will taper off early this evening, setting up partly cloudy skies overnight. Temperatures will remain steady in the upper teens.

The rest of the holiday weekend should be much quieter across Michiana. On Saturday, highs will reach the lower 30s under partly sunny skies. We'll be cloudy, but much milder on Sunday as highs approach the middle 40s in some locations. That will cause a good chunk of the snow that's out there now to melt. A few rain and snow showers are possible overnight Sunday into Monday morning. I'm not expecting any major problems from that quick system. We'll be dry for most of Monday and Tuesday with highs in the lower 30s before a bigger system impacts the Midwest over the last few days of 2020. Right now, most of Michiana's precipitation will be rain, but I can't rule out some minor snow accumulation Wednesday night into New Year's Eve Thursday. We'll keep you posted on that storm system as we get a little closer.

Tonight: Partly cloudy and cold. Low 18.

Tomorrow: Mixture of sun and clouds. High 32.

Sunday: Cloudy and milder. Chance of rain and snow showers at night. High 44.

Monday: A chance of flurries or snow showers in the morning, then cloudy. High 30.
