SAINT JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind.-Who’s side are you on? Team Mishawaka or Team South Bend?

Today, both cities will face off in a Red Kettle competition to see who can raise the most money for The Salvation Army for the 5th year in a row.

From 6:30 A.M. to 6:30 P.M., community members and city leaders will join together and set up different locations around Saint Joseph County.

“It’s a great way to build a momentum and to get more people involved for the cause,” said Jan Marable, Director of the Salvation’s Army Family Resource Center.

Leaders like South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg, Mishawaka Mayor Dave Wood, South Bend Fire Chief Steve Cox, School City of Mishawaka representatives and South Bend and Mishawaka police.

The schedule for the ring off locations are below:

Noon-1pm Team South Bend: Magistrate Judge Andre Gammage & SBCSC Superintendent Dr. Kenneth Spells at Pegg’s Restaurant -127 S. Michigan

Team Mishawaka: Mayor Dave Wood & Major Monty Wandling, at UP Mall’s Santa Entrance

5:30-6:30pm Team South Bend: South Bend Police Officials at Wal-Mart, 700 West Ireland Road, South Bend

Team Mishawaka: Mishawaka Police Officials, UP Mall – Santa Entrance

Four schools from Mishawaka are also supporting the cause. Students will be bringing in donations Tuesday morning to participate.

  • LaSalle Elementary—Ugly Christmas Sweater Day
  • Batell Elementary—Jeans Day
