South Bend provides free community meal pickups
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The South Bend Common Council approves $9,000,000 from the city's general fund to pay for the next phase of renovations at the Morris Performing Arts Center.
The money, along with $7,000,000 worth of donations raised, covers the cost of the new Raclin Murphy Encore Center, with construction starting in late summer.
The $9,000,000 was already part of the city budget, but the Common Council gave final approval tonight.
The city claims this money could be reimbursed by state dollars over time.
The Encore Center is expected to be finished late next year or early 2026.
