South Bend Community School Corporation announces St. Joseph County Career Hub

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The South Bend Community School Corporation has announced today the creation of the St. Joseph County Career Hub. The initiative, the first of its type to exist in the region, aims to provide professional opportunities for students to find a career path.

"The St. Joseph County Career Hub represents a bold step forward in our mission to empower students with the tools they need to succeed," said Dr. Todd Cummings, Superintendent of South Bend Schools.

It will be located at the intersection of Sample Street and Lafayette Boulevard at Studebaker Building 84 in South Bend and will span over 50,000 feet.

"By locating in the historic Studebaker plant, we are building on the legacy of innovation that defines South Bend. Through a range of programs spanning from precision machining to early childhood education, we are equipping our students with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to thrive in an ever-evolving job market,” Cummings added.

The construction will start summer 2024 and the expected finish date will be the beginning of the 2025 school year.

The initiative will offer specialized training and technical skills that are not traditionally taught in high school and will welcome all high school students. The training will be in different fields, such as entrepreneurship, robotics, automotive technology, cosmetology, culinary arts and television and radio.
