South Bend Community School Corporation hosts pre-k enrollment fair

NOW: South Bend Community School Corporation hosts pre-k enrollment fair

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The South Bend Community School Corporation hopes to encourage more families to enroll their children into its pre-k program.

SBCSC held a pre-k enrollment fair today, May 12. The district is expanding its pre-k offerings to six more schools, bringing its total to 14. Any child who will be four years old by August 1 is eligible. Families can apply for a voucher from the state; even if they don't get one, the program is free. At the event, SBCSC pre-k principal Carol Draeger Thomas said much of the motivation behind the move had to do with capacity.

Several of our schools are already at capacity with waiting lists, so we are encouraging parents at this event to enroll in the schools where we still have open enrollment, mainly at Coquillard and at Wilson and at Darden and at Madison and at Edison.

The August 1 age cutoff is also the enrollment deadline. More information can be found at the district's website.
