South Bend Community School Corporation to host Drive the Bus With Us recruiting event

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Interested individuals over the age of 21 with a valid driver’s license will have the chance to drive a school bus for the South Bend Community School Corporation.

The school will be hosting two school bus driver recruitment events on June 18 and July 2 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the South Bend Community School Corporation headquarters.

Participants will be paired with a driving trainer and will be taught how to properly handle a school bus with a test drive around the parking lot.

Interviews will be conducted on-site alongside free refreshments.

Transportation Training Supervisor, Ronda Picking, will oversee the event.

“This is for people who may be interested in driving a school bus, but may be intimidated by the size of the vehicle or the training process. We invite everyone to drive a bus and ask questions. And if they enjoy the experience, we will be more than happy to give an on the spot interview and assist them in filling out an application,” said Picking.
