South Bend Cubs performance center

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -  Friday the South Bend Cubs performance center officially started operating on a full time daily schedule, and they kicked this off with a grand opening event.

Anyone who is looking to improve their swing can head to the South Bend Cubs performance center.

The facility will be open seven days a week even during home games.

It has six cages. Five are equipped with pitching machines and the sixth has a full sized pitching mound.

Not only are these cages available for leisurely hitting, if you want to take it up a notch there will be instructors available by appointment to teach people of all ages.

Joe Hart the president of the South Bend Cubs says this facility is not only for baseball.

"We have pitching machines which will do both softball and baseball, but the other thing is we will be able to do private instruction to anyone who has a son or daughter out there that wants private instruction from a baseball trainer or a softball instructor this will be the facility that they will be able to do that."
