South Bend Cubs players, residents go on picnic

South Bend Cubs players living at a retirement community joined their neighbors on a fishing and picnic trip to Potato Creek State Park on Friday.

Pitcher Carson Sands likes his new home.

"It's like having family behind you. It's good to have them there, people to talk to. I don't see people there that are upset or having a bad day. They are always smiling and enjoying life. They always want to talk and have a moment with you. So it's nice," said Sands.

The players have been living at Saint Paul's Retirement Community since April.
