SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The South Bend Cubs are preparing for the Midwest League Playoffs and the Western Divisional Championship Series, which begin Tuesday at Four Winds Field.
The Eastern and Western division championships will be played in a best of 3 series Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
The South Bend Cubs will play the Cedar Rapids Kernels for the Western Division Championship. First pitch Tuesday is at 7:05 p.m. at Four Winds Field.
"We're all really excited, a lot of positivity heading into this next week. It's always nice to see the team you're going to play for the week before you're getting ready for that series. I think we're really confident about where we're going to be at, we're excited to get this series started off here at home," Pitcher Michael McAvene said.
The Cubs will travel on Wednesday and play the Cedar Rapids Kernels in Iowa on Thursday and Friday.
The winner of the Western Division Championship will play the winner of the Eastern Division Championship, either the Great Lakes Loons or the Lake County Captains, September 18 through 21 for the Midwest League Championship.
