South Bend Cubs to co-host Military Appreciation Weekend
SOUTH BEND, Ind.—For the second straight season, the South Bend Cubs will celebrate Military Appreciation Weekend during Armed Forces Week, which runs from May 24-30.
The South Bend Cubs will dedicate the week’s games to military service branches and celebrate with festivities on May 26 and Memorial Day, May 27.
During the event, co-hosted by Express Enrollment Professionals, veterans or currently-serving military personnel with proof of service can receive two free tickets to the games on Sunday or Monday.
Before the Sunday, May 26 games, the second annual Military Appreciation Fair will feature nearly 30 military and veterans service organizations and the Boy & Girl Scouts of America with the goal of connecting with fans about how they can make an impact for veterans, military and the United States.
The game on May 27 will have a special 2:05 p.m. first pitch. Pre-game programming will include a wreath-laying ceremony at 12:45 p.m. hosted by 95.3 MNC’s Casey Hendrickson and South Bend Cubs President Joe Hart, a helicopter landing on the field and an on-field motorcycle ride for area veteran riders.
A “pass-the-hat” donation on behalf of Express Employment Professionals will benefit the Food Bank of Northern Indiana.
Fifty American Flags will adorn the field, dedicated to Vietnam veterans with the theme, “never again will one generation of veterans abandon another.”
