SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Local leaders in Michiana got together on Friday to announce that the South Bend-Elkhart area was awarded the 21st Century Talent Region.
The northern Indiana region received the honor for achieving a certain level of economic success.
“Earning this designation requires the region to come together to build and implement for attracting, developing, and connecting talent,” Blair Milo said, Secretary of Career Connections and Talent for the State of Indiana. “Those three elements are measured by growing the population by increasing post-secondary education attainment levels and raising median household income.”
47 individual communities comprise the South Bend-Elkhart Regional Partnership.
The Partnership represents a collaborative effort by communities and economic leaders with the goal of strategizing a long-term systematic approach to advancing economic success in Michiana by focusesing on five key areas:
- Workforce
- Talent
- Industry
- Inclusion
- Entrepreneurship
