South Bend firefighters wear pink

SOUTH BEND, Ind -- They drive bright red engines, but this month the South Bend Fire Department is going for a lighter tone by showing they are tough enough to wear pink.

Firefighters are wearing pink through the month of October all to raise awareness for breast cancer.

Not only will the firefighters be wearing the shirts all month, they will also be selling them. You can buy a shirt at Central Fire Station for $10. All of the money raised will go to a local breast cancer survivors group.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
