South Bend flight makes emergency landing

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- An Allegiant Air flight from South Bend made an emergency landing in Fort Wayne because the cargo fire indicator light came on in the cockpit.

The flight departed at 12:55 p.m. from South Bend to Punta Gorda, Florida, and landed in Fort Wayne at 1:21 p.m.

"It was like the plane was falling from the sky," passenger Katie French told ABC7 in Fort Myers. "[Passengers were told to] put your hands by your side and go limp at impact."

Passengers are now waiting at Fort Wayne International to continue on to their destination.

Allegiant has not been able to determine whether the indicator light was due to a malfunction.
