South Bend hosting 'My Brother's Keeper" community challenge event

The “My Brother’s Keeper” initiative has paved the way for so many young men in America, including shaping the lives of young men in South Bend. Tonight, that mission will continue.

Mayor Pete Buttigieg, South Bend City officials and Beacon Health System are joining forces tonight to host the “My Brother’s Keeper Community Challenge”.

President Obama launched the initiative in 2014 to address opportunity gaps faced by boys and young men of color to make sure they all reach their full potential.

Discussions have been held previously by the local “My Brother’s Keeper” chapter. In January, community leaders sat down and talked about police and community relations.

Tonight at 5:30 at the Civil Right Heritage Center, remarks and a presentation will be made by Mayor Buttigieg and community partners. Following the event, there will be a resource fair for all of those who attend.
