South Bend house fire Thursday evening, cat and dog rescued

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. – Crews were able to clear the scene of a house fire on the 3800 block of Fellows Street in South Bend in 10 minutes, rescuing one cat and dog from inside the home, according to Battalion Chief Brian Kocoszar.

Dispatch reported the call came in at 5:52 p.m.

The owner of the home was not present during the time of the fire. To rescue the cat, crews had to break a window.

No injuries were reported during the fire. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
