South Bend Latin Dance hosts Latin Wednesdays in South Bend
SOUTH BEND, Ind. - You can learn some new dance skills in South Bend from different Latin countries! South Bend Latin Dance hosts Latin Wednesdays, a night filled with dancing.
“We’re able to show our culture. We're able to show people what we believe, how we do growing up, our food, just everything. But with this, it’s all in one. We're all here and showing everyone because there’s so many people here from all over the world,” member of South Bend Latin Dance Joanna Avilez said.
Latin Wednesdays is South Bend Latin Dance’s most regular and long-standing event. It is held every week at Ironhand Wine Bar in South Bend from 7 to 10 p.m.
It starts with a 30-minute beginners’ lesson, then the dance floor opens for everyone, dancing everything from bachata, salsa, cumbia and merengue.
Juvenal and Joanna Avilez met at South Bend Latin Dance two years ago and since then fell in love.
Wednesday is their date night, as they describe it as a stress reliever and spark to their relationship. They say they’re lucky to have found an event like this and are happy to see it grow.
“It’s a really good vibe. I encourage people to come try it out because they’ll meet good people here and just have a good time. There's good food, good music and they learn how to dance salsa, cumbia and bachata,” Juvenal Avilez said.
The admission fee is $10 and $5 for students.
