South Bend leaf collection program starts November 2nd

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The City of South Bend’s Fall ReLeaf program is starting up on Monday, November 2nd and will last through December 3rd. No requests need to be made ahead of time to take part in the leaf collection.

City crews will be making two passes through each area during the month-long program, giving residents two opportunities to get leaves picked up.

People that wish to take part should follow the posted schedule on the city’s website, as dates could change due to weather.

Leaves need to be raked to the tree lawn area and not into the street, and should be there by 6 a.m. on the day of pickup.

Leaves should be free of trash and debris or they may not be collected.

Cars should not be parked on top or in front of leaf piles.

If already taking part in the Yard Waste program, leaves can also be put in the yard waste bins.

The city wishes to remind residents that leaf burning is prohibited in South Bend and is a violation of city ordinance.
