South Bend Lost and Found Pets building feral cat shelters for winter

SOUTH BEND, IN-- South Bend Lost and Found Pets, a Facebook group with over 10,000 community members, is building feral cat shelters for the winter, to help protect stray cats across Michiana.

According to Tina Donica, Admin of South Bend Lost and Found Pets "The community really needed it, we heard from a lot of people last year ‘please we’ve got lots of feral cats! We’re pushing TNR and Meow Mix to come out and fix the feral cats and release them but they need some place to be warm during the winter because like last year it got, you know, really cold out.”

The group has already built 140 shelters, but are still looking for more donations of plastic totes, Styrofoam containers and stay. Local communities are encourage to help build the shelters, and the page will post notifications about upcoming build dates and times.

South Bend Lost and Found Pets is hosting a fundraiser for the effort on Saturday Dec 3, from 1-4PM at tractor supply in Niles. Families can take photos with Santa, and a part of the proceeds will go to building the cat shelters.
