South Bend male dies from shooting, police investigate two connected scenes

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. - The South Bend Police Department is investigating two shootings that they believe are connected.

On Friday, November 24, officials were called to two separate scenes around 2:30 a.m., after receiving reports of shots fired.

The St. Joseph County Police were called to the intersection of Ironwood Dr. and Eugene St., finding a 50-year-old male with gun shot injuries.

The 50-year-old resident of South Bend, Carl Shelton, was transported to the hospital and died from his injuries.

Shelton's autopsy is scheduled for November 25.

Around the same time, South Bend Police were called to the BP Gas Station on the corner of McKinley Ave. and Hickory Rd., to investigate shooting reports.

This remains an ongoing investigation by the South Bend Police Department's Violent Crimes Unit.
