South Bend man leads La Porte County deputies on pursuit Wednesday night

LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind. -- La Porte County Sheriff's Office deputies were led on a pursuit after a speeding vehicle refused a traffic stop on S.R. 2 Wednesday night. 

The LCSO says at approximately 10:42 p.m., the vehicle in question was traveling west near C.R. 400 East when a deputy's in-car radar unit caught it going over the speed limit.

When a LCSO deputy attempted a traffic stop, the vehicle, driven by 41-year-old Christoper Orozco of South Bend, "failed to stop resulting in a motor vehicle pursuit."

"The pursuit traveled southbound on Fail Road, eastbound on C.R. 150 North, northbound on C.R. 600 East, eastbound on C.R. 350 North, into St. Joseph County, northbound on Timothy Road, and then eastbound on S.R. 2," the LCSO said. "The fleeing vehicle struck a set of tire deflation devices that had been placed on S.R. 2."

Soon after, the vehicle came to a stop west of Willow Road and Orozco was taken into custody.

He was arrested for Resisting Law Enforcement (L6 Felony) and Operating While Intoxicated (A-Misdemeanor / C-Misdemeanor. He is currently at the La Porte County Jail on a $1,055.00 cash bond through Circuit Court.

Arrests and criminal charges are mere accusations. Every person is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
