A big change this weekend
SOUTH BEND, Ind. - A South Bend man is recovering after being shot several times.
The shooting happened around 11:40 P.M. Sunday on Jefferson Boulevard at Illinois Street.
Police say several shots were fired from a car before it crashed into a tree.
The shooter left the area after the crash, leaving the car behind.
The victim was standing in a yard when he was shot. Police say he was taken to Memorial Hospital but is now home recovering.
At this time police are unsure exactly how many shots were fired, but they say there were at least 20 rounds.
Neighbors in the area say they heard 25 to 30 gunshots.
"We do have quite a bit of evidence to process. We have the vehicle, we have the victim and we have a couple of witnesses, so that's where we're at right now," said Sergeant Martin Mullins of South Bend Police.
The name of the victim has not been released but ABC 57 is told that he lives in this area.
This investigation is still ongoing.
Police have not identified any suspects.
