South Bend man sentenced to 10 years in prison for stolen firearm possession

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – A 23-year-old will serve 10 years in prison for being a felon in possession of one or more stolen firearms.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Charles D’Angelo Lockett of South Bend was sentenced to 10 years in prison, stemming from an incident where Lockett was driving and hit a parked car in Wabash County.

Documents say he fled the scene and police caught up with him after a 15-minute chase. Police said during the chase, Lockett was throwing items out of the vehicle, driving over 90 miles per hour, and driving through stop signs.

Lockett got out the vehicle and ran from police but he was eventually detained. Law enforcement found two firearms and drugs in his car.

He will be on supervised release for 18 months following his sentence.
