South Bend man shot in stomach expected to survive

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Police said a 24-year-old man who was shot in the stomach is expected to survive.

The victim was rushed to South Bend Memorial Hospital after officers found him bleeding from the single gunshot wound after 2 a.m. Wednesday on the 800 block of Huey Street.
Officers told ABC 57 while the victim is able to speak, the man is not saying much about what happened, including who shot him or what really happened.
Police interviewed five witnesses, but said they are also staying tight lipped. Officers said the short stories they are telling conflict with one another.
Police said they will try to get to the victim to talk later Wednesday, but as of the morning, no arrests had been made.
The victim’s name has not been released.
