South Bend overnight pursuit led to recovery of stolen vehicle

SOUTH BEND, Ind. --  On July 23 at approximately 11:30 p.m., Officers with the South Bend Police Department observed a vehicle driving without headlights near Studbaker Street and LaPorte Avenue. 

Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop when the vehicle fled and led officers on a short pursuit, which ended in the 400 block of North Walnut Street. Three subjects exited the vehicle and ran from officers; two were apprehended nearby after one continued to resist. 

 SBPD K9 Zeke was utilized to locate the final subject was ultimately located and apprehended near Cleveland and LaPorte Avenues. Officers determined that the vehicle they were driving had been reported as stolen out of South Bend.

After discovering the subjects were juveniles, officers contacted the Juvenile Justice Center, but they reported they would not detain any of the individuals. The juveniles, ranging in age between 15 and 17, were released to their parents.
