South Bend police are investigating a shooting near Leer and Indiana

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The South Bend Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred Sunday around 2:55 am.

Officers were called to the 1800 block of Lincoln Way East for a report that two people had been shot.

Once police arrived, they learned that only one person was injured by the gunfire.

A 25 year old female was located with an injury to the face and a second 25 year old female had a laceration injury to her arm caused by debris.

Doctors say the female with the injury to her face is in stable condition and her injury is non life-threatening.

Through initial investigation, police learned that the shooting happened in the area of Leer and Indiana.

The victims of this shooting reported that they were in a vehicle when it was hit by gunfire.

The South Bend Police Investigation Bureau continues to investigate at this time.
