SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The South Bend Police Department (SBPD) hosted its annual awards ceremony Wed. evening at Four Winds Casino, honoring officers and staff for 2024.
There were 12 different award categories, including the ‘Commander’s Award’, the ‘Community Problem Solving Award’, and the ‘Police Officer of the Year Award’.
The member who took home the Officer of the Year title was Patrolman Aaron Omanson, who was a leader among officers in 2024 with over 800 traffic stops, 60 arrests, and for his time as one of the top field-training officers.
