SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- South Bend Police are investigating a home invasion and attempted sexual assault that happened Wednesday morning.

Police were dispatched to the 500 block of S. 27th Street for reports of a home invasion.

The victim told police a man with a gun was in her home and attempted to sexually assault her.

The St. Joseph County Special Victims Unit is taking over the investigation.

The suspect is described as a white male, possibly in his mid to late 30s, with a shaved head. He was wearing a gray sweatshirt, blue jeans and older tennis shoes.
