South Bend Police investigating homicide at Beacon Heights

UPDATE: A suspect has been arrested and charged in connection with a female gunshot victim in Beacon Heights.

The victim, 26-year-old Khalyiah Bell, died at the scene from gunshot wounds. 

On Saturday, November 4, 22-year-old Juwan Dockery was identified as a suspect, according to the South Bend Police Department's Violent Crimes Unit. 

Dockery is currently being held at the St. Joseph County Jail. 


SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The South Bend Police Department is investigating a homicide at the Beacon Heights Apartments Friday morning.

A call came in just after 8:30 a.m. reporting the shooting in the 3400 block of Curtiss Drive.

At the scene, police found a female dead from apparent gunshot wounds. Her name is being withheld while her family is notified.

The department's Violent Crimes Unit is investigating.
