SOUTH BEND, Ind. - On October 21, around 11:45 a.m., South Bend Police officers were dispatched to the 3100 block of W. Western Ave. regarding an unwanted person in a home, but as officers responded to the residence, the call was upgraded to a shooting.

A male victim, with an apparent gunshot wound, was found and taken to a local hospital, according to the South Bend Police Department. 

He is in critical condition. 

The South Bend Violent Crimes Unit has taken over the investigation.
