SOUTH BEND, Ind. - UPDATE: South Bend Police were called to the 4800 block of West Western Avenue on the report of a shooting on Thursday, around 6 p.m.
Officers located one victim, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
As officers were investigating, Memorial Hospital informed police, a second victim walked into the Emergency Room with apparent gunshot wounds.
The second victim’s injuries are also not believed to be life-threatening.
The South Bend Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit has taken over the investigation.
Anyone with information is encouraged to call Michiana Crime Stoppers at 574-288-STOP to leave an anonymous tip.
ORIGINAL STORY: The South Bend Police Department responded to a potential shooting in the 4800 block of Western Avenue, after a call came in around 6:05 p.m.
The public is advised to avoid the area.
There are two victims whose conditions are unknown, authorities say.
Police say there is currently one suspect.
There was also one walk-in at Memorial with apparent gunshot wounds, but police have not been able to verify if that's connected to this incident.
