South Bend Police up patrols at Howard Park after several incidents the last few weeks

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - South Bend Police say they'll be conducting periodic foot patrols in response to being called to at least three fights and two disturbances during spring break week at Howard Park in South Bend.

Chief Scott Ruszkowski says they also have a downtown patrol after several deadly shootings at the beginning of the year.

Ruszkowski also urges parents and guardians to do watch their kids especially with summer approaching.

Ruszkowski says the fights may not seem like much, but they can escalate into more serious situations.
