South Bend Salvation Army taking Christmas aid applications

‘Tis the Season! Christmas is only fifty-five days away and hundreds of families in Saint Joseph County need help to make it special.

The Salvation Army’s Kroc Center helps hundreds of families every holiday season by giving them Christmas food, clothes and toys. If you think your family needs a little help to celebrate the holiday, they’re currently accepting applications for aid.

The application opened October 25th. So far, The Salvation Army says 245 families and households applied just that day alone.

Applications will only be taken through this Tuesday, November 1st.

Last year, more than 850 families were given food, clothes, toys and other necessities so they could have an unforgettable Christmas.

To apply, you must have a valid photo ID, a social security card for everyone 18 and older in the home, birth certificates for everyone 17 and younger in the home, proof of income for each resident and proof of address in Saint Joseph County.

Volunteers are also needed at the center. If you’d like to apply or volunteer, go to http://www.mykroc.org/christmas.html or call 574-233-9471
