SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The St. Joseph County Metro Homicide Unit has identified the man who was shot and killed late Monday night in South Bend.
The victim was Melvin Muhammad, 43, of South Bend. He died at Memorial Hospital. An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday at 9 a.m.
Police were dispatched to the area of North Studebaker Street and La Porte Avenue, near the Kickback Bar and Grill, just after 11 p.m.

Witnesses said they heard five gunshots before a vehicle quickly drove away from the scene.
There have been no arrests reported in this case.
