South Bend Tea Party members protest IRS on Tax Day
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The cold and snow did not stop a group of Tea Party members from gathering in downtown South Bend on Tax Day to spread their opinions about the IRS.
The protesters say the IRS makes it hard for conservative groups like them to get a tax ID. They say someone should be held responsible.
They want everyone to hear their message of how the IRS suppresses First Amendment rights.
"We want people to pay attention to what’s happening with IRS hearings and to be mindful of all the regulations and burden they're putting on people," said Kathy Maloney, Coordinator for St. Joe County Tea Party Patriots.
In all, about ten Tea Party members gathered Tuesday afternoon.
The demonstration ended around 2 p.m.
