South Bend teacher surprised with Hero award

A South Bend teacher was given the hero of the month honor Wednesday at Saint Anthony de Padua.

Michiana Homes for Heroes gives housing discounts to those making a difference in their community and this time, Chris Fowler was surprised with the award.

The rebates and discounts go to firefighters, emergency medical professionals, military and veterans, law enforcement, teachers and healthcare workers when buying, selling, renting, or refinancing a home.

Heroes save on average over two thousand dollars.

“He comes in, full of energy. He's kind to everybody, supportive of the kids. He's kind of crazy, in a great way. He's like the spark plug of our school. He's really amazing,” said Principal Tom Hamilton.
