South Bend teens arrested following multi-county police chase
                        ABC 57                                                    LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind. -- The Indiana State Police reported troopers identified a stolen vehicle traveling east on I-94 near the Portage exit early Saturday morning.
Troopers then followed the vehicle to the Chesterton exit where a traffic stop was attempted.
Police say the driver failed to stop, at which point a pursuit began.
The chase continued east on I-94 into La Porte County where the suspect vehicle exited at mile-marker 40 at the South Bend/La Porte exit ramp.
Authorities say the suspect vehicle then crashed at a curve, striking a guardrail, before coming to a stop in the median of I-94.
Police say four suspects were taken into custody, two of whom were minors.
All four were treated for minor injuries.
The two juveniles were released to their respective guardians.
The driver, 18-year-old James Johnson of South Bend, was arrested and taken to the Porter County Jail.
Johnson is charged with Resisting Law Enforcement with a Vehicle, a Level 6 Felony, Resisting Law Enforcement Causing Risk of Serious Bodily Injury, a Level 6 Felony, Criminal Recklessness, a Class B Misdemeanor, Auto Theft, a Level 6 Felony, Aggressive Driving in a Work Zone, a Class A Misdemeanor, and Reckless Driving, a Class A Misdemeanor.
The adult passenger, 18-year-old Tyler L. Sykes of South Bend, was also arrested and taken to Porter County Jail.
Sykes is charged with Criminal Trespass to a Vehicle, a Level 6 Felony, and Possession of Marijuana, a Class B Misdemeanor.
