SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The East Side 8U All-Star softball team out of South Bend is packing their bags and heading to Florida for the Babe Ruth World Series.
Despite only playing together for one month, the East Side 8U All-Stars boast a 9-0 record after going undefeated in the Indiana state and Ohio Valley regional tournaments.
Winning comes as a bonus to the young girls who are learning about leadership and confidence through sports.
“Whether it’s a play that they make or them picking each other up when they don’t make a play, I’m equally happy with both,” said coach Collin Harding.
East Side 8U will play in Florida from July 28 through August 6.
The team is looking for community support and those looking to donate can do so here.
